About your instructor

Hi, I’m Laura! I graduated the cosmetology program at AVEDA Institute Orlando in 2011 and went on to offer hair services for the next 4 years. Somewhere in my third year as a hair stylist, I realized the two years prior had been totally uninspiring. I had not grown as an artist, I didn't love going to work, and hadn’t been giving any energy to building my clientele. I began looking at what others were doing and building in the surrounding areas and decided to take my styling game to Winter Park, FL in an attempt to reawaken my passion. It was at this new salon that I was introduced to eyelash extensions. I didn’t think much of them as they seemed like an over the top luxury. However, over the next year I watched the salon owner’s lash extension business explode & it was then that I began to consider giving lash extensions a chance. I figured if I tried it and it wasn’t for me that I hadn’t lost much time or money so I scheduled my Classic Training.

I became obsessed. I could not pull myself away from the beautiful lash extension pictures on instagram & became increasingly excited to learn this new skill. Finally the day of training came. I sat nervously through theory wondering how the rest of the day would go but when I picked up the tweezers and started practicing, I knew that my career path had just taken an amazing turn. Fast forward about a week - I let all of my hair guests know that the next appointment they had on the schedule would be their last appointment with me. I worked for the next month finishing out my Saint Cloud & Winter Park guests & also simultaneously started at a third Salon strictly as a lash extension artist. After that month I was doing lashes full time and had never been happier.

After 3 months of loving my new career, but not loving the salon atmosphere, I decided to start looking for a place of my own & was able to start that new adventure only 3 months later in July 2016.

Today I own The Studio - a spa with an eco friendly & better for you approach. I cannot believe how this new life of mine has formed over the last 3 years - and all because of lash extensions.

We take theory seriously.

In order to be a successful lash artist, it is a necessity to learn the what is and isn’t appropriate in the world of lash extensions & what to watch out for during and after a service. It’s amazing the trainings that are out there that skip over these immensely important topics.

We only train + certify licensed professionals.

In most states, you are required to hold a cosmetology or esthetician license in order to provide lash extensions as a service. Are you a cosmetology or esthetics student? You can absolutely take our training & you can even test out for certification. Students will receive their certificate of completion after they have obtained their state licensure.

We believe in green.

We do our best to source as sustainably as possible. LASH•FOLK study manuals are made with the planet in mind - from a recycled binder to biodegradable page sleeves. You will also find bamboo disposables in your kit rather than plastic.

We believe that success is more than skill.

Walking away from training with a newly learned skill is great, but if you don’t know how to communicate with guests, address their needs, or run a business can you really be successful with you new skill? On Day 2 of our Classic Lash Extension Training, we dive into the real world scenarios that will definitely make an appearance in your business at one time or another. You will come away from this training knowing how to address issues or concerns before they come about.
