Hipstoric - First Responders Appreciation
Hipstoric happens on the third Friday of September, December, March, and May. September's Hipstoric Friday was in appreciation of our first responders! The Studio hosted a yoga-thon and rock painting event in conjunction with the September Hipstoric. The money raised at this event was deposited to the SunTrust account set up by the City of Kissimmee for the fallen officers' families. $57 was raised between the rock painting & yoga-thon donations which, when paired with the donations for Back the Blue lash accents, totaled $102.
Rock painting has taken off in Saint Cloud & areas around the country! The purpose of rock painting is to spread joy and brighten people's day. After the rock is painted, it is hidden somewhere in the community for others to find. The idea is that once that person finds it, they hide it again themselves, to keep the cycle of joy flowing.
These three yogis joined us at the start of the yoga-thon (5:30PM) and flowed with us all the way through until the end (7:30PM)!
Our instructors rotated in and out, and kept the class flowing for two full hours.
The Studio was filled with laughter as a person driving by saw our yogis holding their Warrior 1 pose, stopped in the street & waved to the class!
One of our instructors, Allison, lead the class through cool down, where blue glowing lights were passed out to each yogi that participated. Before she began savasana she held space for the fallen Kissimmee officers' with a moment of silence and two unoccupied yoga mats.
Thank you so much to everyone that participated in the yoga-thon & rock painting event & helped raise funds to support the families in need.
